WELCOME BACK!
The seasons are changing and so is Newcomers! For those of you who attend the coffee meetings, you’ll notice that we have changed the format: business first, speaker second. That will give you plenty of time to ask questions and talk to our guests afterward if you wish.
One of the biggest changes this year is our website. Kathy Whisenant has done an amazing job getting our new website up and running and making it more user friendly. Another big change is the online directory. Our directory coordinator, Tina Torres has created this awesome reference which you can access from your phone. Information and instructions for how to download the directory can be found in the “members only” section of the website (same login ID & password). This is also a full reprint year for the paper directory. If you want to change your photo or other information. Please update your directory information no later than September 16th! Our newsletter is changing too! Jann Gorman is working hard to make our “news” timely and fresh and delivered in its entirety to your inbox. No more pages of redundant information to sift thru. We hope you enjoy it!
There are lots of good things in store for Newcomers this year. I hope everyone can make a new friend or find a new activity to try. I look forward to a fun year with Newcomers.

Fayetteville Newcomers Club First Coffee Meeting kicking off our new year will be at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, September 9, 2019 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2925 Old Missouri Road, Fayetteville, which will include coffee, refreshments, and a monthly program. Newcomers to the area (established residents too) are invited to attend and enjoy the company of our friendly group. Our Service Project this year is Magdalene Serenity House. April Bachrodt is the Executive Director of Magdalene Serenity House and will be the guest speaker for our September meeting. She holds a Bachelors, Masters, and PhD in Social Work with expertise in working with women who have experienced trauma, violence, and addiction. In her spare time, she is a mother to the best three-year-old girl in the world and enjoys spending time with her family. She is grateful to be part of such a generous and supportive community that is committed to social justice and improving the lives of those in need.

Double Deck Pinochle is changing from a couples Saturday night group to a singles Monday afternoon group on the 3rd Monday of the month, 1-4 p.m. at Rolling Hills Baptist Church. First day of pinochle is September 16th. Sign up at the September Coffee or call Jann Gorman for more details, 512-965-1511.
TRAINING for Maj-Jongg will be in October. Mark your calendars Newcomers MJ will be giving a series of four lessons starting on Tuesday, October 1st from 12-2pm and continuing on October 8th, 15th, and the 22nd. After classes, participants may stay to practice play or observe regular players in their games. Class size will be limited to 16. Random Excursions – We will have a backstage tour of the Walton Arts Center on Friday, September 27, 9-10:00 a.m. A signup sheet will be at the September Newcomers Coffee or you can email Jann Gorman, honk3rs@yahoo.com if you’d like to join us.
Wind-Down Friday Returns Friday, September 14 at 6:30 at Mona and Tom Jones’ home, 3011 N. Sheryl Ave., Fayetteville.
Bring your favorite beverage, glass(es) for you and your guests and an appetizer to share. Spouse, Significant Other, Friends, Etc., - all are welcome! You do not need to be an FNC member to come. If you are not on the email list, please contact Mona at 479-366-3948 or monacjones44@gmail.com
